Blogger comment software has been hiccupping and misbehaving lately. Some comments have been Auto-Detained by the software -- not by me -- and there they sit, belonely, until I notice and release them, a process which can take me much longer than it ought to. I tend not to see them for a ridiculous length of time (I get no notice, for example, that posts are being Detained, all I get is notice that they have been posted.) Other strange things have happened, including some kind of Auto-Edit by which whole paragraphs of comments are excised prior to -- or in some cases, after -- posting.
Be aware this is happening. It is not a deliberate -- or even controllable -- choice on my part, and there appears to be nothing I can do about it so long as comments are run through Blogger's software.
I'm becoming more and more annoyed with this situation, as I'm sure commenters are too. If someone has an alternative comment provider in mind, I'm interested in learning details....

ReplyDeleteThat sets off alarm bells for me, especially the last bit, which sounds more like sabotage than an overzealous spam filter.
Don't know what's going on, but if you have a suggestion for an alternative comment system that works with fewer intrinsic glitches... hurrah!
ReplyDeleteWell, there's Disqus, but it tracks you all over the web ... maybe consider switching to Wordpress.com?
ReplyDeletePondering shifting to Wordpress -- though some of the reports of balkiness and whatnot on that platform have me questioning whether it's worth it.
ReplyDeleteI've been with Blogger so long, it's hard to shift gears...
Meanwhile, if you note, the comments are formatted differently, and I suspect that the formatting change (which I had nothing to do with) is the culprit for some of the strange things that were going on...
