Oh for Cripes Sake

From the Southern Poverty Law Center:

The man who allegedly murdered six people at a Sikh temple in suburban Milwaukee yesterday, identified in media reports as Wade Michael Page, was a frustrated neo-Nazi who had been the leader of a racist white-power band.

In 2010, Page, then the leader of the band End Apathy, gave an interview to the white supremacist website Label 56. He said that when he started the band in 2005, its name reflected his wish to “figure out how to end people’s apathetic ways” and start “moving forward.” “I was willing to point out some of my faults on how I was holding myself back,” Page said.

Later, he added, “The inspiration was based on frustration that we have the potential to accomplish so much more as individuals and a society in whole.” He did not discuss violence in the interview.

Page told the website that he had been a part of the white power music scene since 2000, when he left his native Colorado on a motorcycle. He attended white power concerts in Georgia, North Carolina, West Virginia and Colorado. At various times, he said, he also played in the hate rock bands Youngland (2001-2003), Celtic Warrior, Radikahl, Max Resist, Intimidation One, Aggressive Force and Blue Eyed Devils.

End Apathy, he said, included “Brent” on bass and “Ozzie” on drums; the men were former members of Definite Hate and another band, 13 Knots.

In 2000, the Southern Poverty Law Center has found that Page also attempted to purchase goods from the neo-Nazi National Alliance, then America's most important hate group.

Remember the Rightist hysteria when the DHS issued a report on Rightist extremist groups? And DHS dropped the idea of tracking them? SPLC had had this guy on their radar for 12 years. FBI? Not 't all. Meanwhile, Grannies For Peace and random anarchists are targeted for intense scrutiny by "law enforcement." Don't you feel so much safer knowing the Grannies and the Anarchists are never out of sight of the National Security State?

It ain't right...

  1. Grannies for Peace are potentially a threat to the system, this guy (while over-zealous, certainly) aims to perpetuate the system. The system is happy to have guys like him around. The system is even happy when they occasionally blow a gasket and do something obscenely awful. (Don't believe me, where would Arizona politics be without the "Minuteman" movement? Much different. Probably more Latino friendly and plutocrat unfriendly. The same Minuteman movement that cheerfully murders little Mexican girls in their homes.)

Is this guy really so different then the people supporting Joe Arpaio? Hell, is he even really different than Joe Arpaio himself?

Put it this way, it's not really different than the occasional overzealous cop who gets caught dead to rights summarily executing a non-white person. The system needs those extra-judicial killings, so it accepts the propaganda blowback of a cellphone camera at the wrong time.

Why Sikhs, though? Is he really as dumb as I think he is, or did he actually have something against Sikhs? This is the one mystery I want cleared up.

Also, do you suppose that Scott Walker winced a little when he heard that one of his guys was put down. That guy was one of his reliable voters, I suspect!

  2. For Walker and his ilk these mooks are expendable -- long as they get the job done, know what I mean?

Sikhs are getting uppity. I've been living in a California Sikhistan for a long time, and I see what's happening. These "Mister Singhs" run all the taxis and the trucking business, they own the organic orchards and on and on. They're living a little too high on the hog.

    Can't have that.

I'm sure it's no different in Wisconsin. I saw a story about Sikh convenience store owners in suburban Milwaukee being subjected to all kinds of robbery and vandalism and demanding some kind of action be taken. Story.

One of the men killed yesterday was the president of the temple, Satwant Singh Kaleka who had called the meeting last year.

But yes, you're exactly right. Our Overclass is always pleased when the rabble is kept in line this way. Interestingly, it doesn't take all that much bloodshed to do it, either...

I have made the point more than once that the rabble is always the victim. The Overclass, for some reason, never faces these domestic slaughterers. Hm. Wonder why.
